Martineau Bay Resort and Spa is on Puerto Rico's Vieques Island, within six miles of Mosquito Bay. Comprising three air-conditioned buildings grouped around a central fountain, the resort's 5,500-square-foot health-and-beauty spa houses a fitness center with sea views. Each room includes a patio or balcony furnished with two cushioned teak chairs and footstools. All-white rooms have terra-cotta tile floors with straw mats and combine Spanish-style furnishings such as antiqued armoires and dining sets with tropical touches such as bamboo reading chairs and bamboo floor lamps. Wood-paddle ceiling fans and louvered sliding patio/balcony doors provide a cooling option to rooms' air conditioning.
Extra-spacious bathrooms include twin-sink vanities, large stall showers with tile benches, and oval soaking tubs. Reed-mat blinds roll up and down between tubs' blue-and-white tile alcoves and bedrooms.
